Evaluating and Testing Preschoolers
There are several ways you can evaluate preschoolers. Most Preschool Teachers do not like to say "TEST" and we agree. You should always try to avoid testing your preshooler. Evaulations of your preschooler should be done on observations at home or in the classroom. Although sometimes testing your child is neccessary.

We recommend using our Skill Sheets and Report Cards to access children skills.

DRC Skill Sheets & Report Cards

Use skill sheets to keep track of each child's individual progress. Work on one skill for two weeks, then fill out skill sheets (or as you go)at the end of the two weeks. Hand them out to the Parents to sign and return to put in their child's portfoilio files. Parents will look forward to seeing how their children are progressing on an academic level.

Skill sheets include the following skills. Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Eye-hand Coordination, Number Recognition, Letter Recognition, Color Recognition, Shape Recognition, Identification Skills, Calendar Skills, & Life Long Learning Skills (Social). View Sample

The Ages & Stages Questionnaire: A Parent Completed , Child-Monitioring System

ASQ Testing: Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ)™ A Parent-Completed, Child-Monitoring System

Price: $165.00

The Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ)™ system is a low-cost, reliable way to screen infants and young children for developmental delays during the crucial first 5 years of life.

Parents complete the simple, illustrated 30-item questionnaires at designated intervals, assessing children in their natural environments to ensure valid results. Each questionnaire can be completed in just 10-15 minutes and covers five key developmental areas: communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social.

Professionals convert parents' responses of yes, sometimes, and not yet — in just 2-3 minutes — to color-coded scoring sheets, enabling them to quickly determine a child's progress in each developmental area. The ASQ™ User's Guide then offers clear guidelines for determining whether children are at high or low risk in the various domains.

ASQ™ keeps costs down by providing photocopiable forms that can be mailed to parents. Or, the questionnaires can be completed by parents during home visits — there's a helpful video that demonstrates the process. And questionnaires are also available in Spanish, French, and Korean for professionals who work with families that speak those languages. It's a flexible, culturally sensitive, and economical way to track the developmental progress of young children.

Eight new questionnaires, added to this edition as a result of user feedback, extend the age-range of the system and help to create a more authentic means of measuring the rapidly developing skills of young children.
