Description

Debie's Daycare is located close to 119th & Ridgeview in Olathe Kansas. Easy access to I 35, I 435 & K 7 highways. I have a playroom just for the children with lots of toys and activities including a play kitchen, child size playhouse, books, puzzles, games, music, building blocks, child size activity school bus and learning activities. I have a finished basement/rec room with easy walkout access to the backyard. We also use this as another play area and for meals and crafts. For outdoor play I have a large fenced backyard with a playground climber, a seven seat airplane teeter totter and riding toys. Each child has their own individual pack n play or sleeping mat and bedding for nap time and is washed regularly.

Qualifications:

I have been doing childcare for over 25 years. I have four daughters who are now all grown and married with little ones of their own. I am a licensed childcare provider through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. I participate in the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). My husband is my back up provider and my helper as he works from home. He has also had all the training classes that I have and KBI (Kansas Bureau of Investigation Background check). Classes include, Pediatric CPR Training, Child First Aid Training, Training Certificate of Safe Slumber, Health, Safety and Nutrition classes and Child Development. Member of Daycare Connection. Continued education and training classes each year..

Philosophy:

I believe children learn through play and appreciate an established routine. I will provide a safe, happy & healthy home/family environment, where children can grow physically, emotionally & socially at their own pace. My goal is to have all the children in my care to have a fun day where they are learning and playing while making new friends. I want your child to feel safe and comfortable and to feel like this is their 2nd home. I will provide your child with lots of love and attention along with daily activities. The debate about home daycare versus structured daycare at a center has been going on for years. There are so many things that make home daycare a viable alternative to the structured daycare centers.

*A home atmosphere which fosters an overall feeling of satisfaction, contentment & security.
A Family Home Daycare is a home-like setting rather than a big facility.

*Smaller child/provider ratios, with the same person always taking care of your child.
Small groups are less stressful to children and the children are able to receive more personal attention.

*Health is another reason to choose Family Home Daycare. Large numbers of people (children, parents & employees) walk through a center's doors. The fewer people your child is exposed to...the less likely they are to become ill.

*Children are free to play and have a variety of activities on a structured yet flexible schedule.

*Personal interaction with the caregiver/Open communication

The choice is a difficult one. Your decision can be made easier by choosing the smaller, more intimate setting to allow your child room to grow. Your child will be in a structured learning environment from the time they enter preschool and throughout their school years. I believe that the time before this should be in a fun and relaxed environment as much like home as possible.

Curriculum Information:

Play-Based:
In a play-based program, children choose activities based on their current interests.

The play-based classroom or daycare is broken up into sections, such as a home or kitchen.
Pretend play areas, learning tables and activities, reading nook, space with blocks, puzzles, games and other toys.

Caregivers encourage the kids to play, facilitating social skills along the way. Even though it seems like they are just playing,
they are learning valuable skills, including important social skills and cooperation with others.

Academic:
I use the Preschool Prep Company DVD's for learning and recognizing letters, numbers, distinguishing shapes and colors.

As the children get old enough, coloring/worksheets are incorporated into this.

Circle time is devoted to story time, singing and small motor skills.
